The Summer's most hotly anticipated game release, Baldur's Gate 3, is playable from August 3. The game's minimum- and recommended system requirements lists have been put out by its developer Larian Studios. We're happy to report that as expected, Baldur's Gate is light on the system requirements, to cater to as broad an audience as Diablo 3, the Spring's hottest RPG release.

Perhaps the steepest system requirement of Baldur's Gate is its disk space. The game calls for 150 GB of SSD storage space, which means it will be packed to the gills with content. The rest of the specs should please you. The minimum system requirements ask for an Intel Core i5-4690 or AMD FX 8350 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon RX 480 graphics card, and Windows 10; so a 10-year old PC should meet the specs. The recommended requirements talk of either an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card—so a 4-year old rig should be enough to max out the game.

I only hope the bugs are ironed out. When I got the game (2 years ago was it?) it has had a damn a lot of those but the plot and the game itself was really good. I guess it is time to play now :)
The requirements are very low. They must have fixed the FPS dips since I had those frequently at 4k.

"...to cater to as broad an audience as Diablo 3, the Spring's hottest RPG release" Spring 2015 maybe. I think you mean Diablo 4.

Be best played with your wife\GF, or at least 2 people in the same room.

Guess who got burned a lot in DOS1\2 ^^. I just hope the AI don't cheat as much as they did late DOS2.

Discord works well bery well, too. A friend and I have put 100 hours into early access and done everything that early access has to offer. At least for the first act, it seems very polished. Lots of replay value I think.

I'm also not surprised about the storage space requirements. They have an enormous amount of cutscenes created. Gotta put that somewhere

Hundreds of hours into multiple playthroughs with so many different builds in DOS2 with my brother in coop and every now and then we'd come across a conversation option or story line we had never seen before. Here's hoping BG3 has a similar world with massive reliability to it. We're anxiously awaiting the official release before we dive into it.

I love the divinity original sin 2 game. Damn I played so many times. Funny thing is, never finished. I always lack of time or i dont play for a while (got a newborn 6month now) and when i dont, I feel like starting over is the right choice. :) I need to try Multi player maybe. That might be fun but considering my free time it is better to play single player. I'm gonna end up starting over anyway.

It's just more of what they are good at.

FAQs

Is Baldur's Gate 3 CPU or GPU intensive? ›

The game appears to be potentially very CPU heavy, or at least it becomes GPU-bound early at 1080p on a high-end card. So, it will probably end up in our CPU suite. It's also going into our handheld gaming suite because it's lightweight enough that you can play this on decent APUs these days or IGPs.

Does Baldur's Gate 3 have high system requirements? ›

Your CPU must be better or equal to a Core i5-4690 or AMD FX-4350. And a Graphics card greater than or equal to GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 480. Also your System Memory should be at least 8 GB - this one is pretty basic.

Is 4GB of VRAM enough for Baldur's Gate 3? ›

- The game requires a CPU with AVX2 support (basically, 2014 or later). - Nvidia graphics are not supported. - The minimum AMD graphics card requires 4GB of VRAM; cards with 2GB would require swapping assets in and out of memory, likely causing performance problems, and are not recommended.

Should I run Baldur's Gate 3 on Vulkan or dx11? ›

If performance is something you're worried about, and you just want to play, opt for DirectX 11. You can change your mind later, but this is the safest and most dependable way to get into the game quickly.

What is the best system to play Baldur's Gate 3? ›

Overall, given its roots as a PC franchise and given the higher performance capabilities of a decent PC versus a PS5, it's no real surprise that Baldur's Gate 3 is best experienced on PC. However, that's not at all to say that the PS5 version isn't worthwhile.

What is the hardest PC game to run? ›

Forspoken. If you wonder what the most demanding game is today, the answer is clear – Forspoken. Currently, it is the most demanding project of modern times, but this is due not to its cool graphics, but rather to poor optimization. This aspect aligns Forspoken with the Next-Gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

What gaming laptop can run Baldurs Gate 3? ›

The Razer Blade 18 Gaming Laptop (RTX 4090) can pretty much handle any modern game one can throw at it on its native 2K resolution at high FPS counts. This includes Baldur's Gate 3, where its RTX 4090 and Core i9 13950HX offerings along with 2TB of SSD storage and 32GB of fast DDR5 memory are more than sufficient.

How do you tell if a game is more CPU or GPU intensive? ›

Generally-speaking, if the game seems like it has a lot going on "behind the scenes" (complex AI, lots of physics calculations, very large amounts of interrelated data, etc.) then it is likely to be CPU-intensive in some way or another (single or multithreaded).

Are new games more CPU or GPU intensive? ›
