A common question we get is “is this like a police auction?” And our answer is… kind of. Copart's inventory is mainly composed of wrecked cars from insurance companies, but we also have some consumers who sell their clean title vehicles through us as well.

Often dealers will send vehicles to auction to avoid a hassle. A vehicle may be too old, have a mileage discrepancy, have a bad CarFax, or have other concerns. Auto auctions take vehicles as-is. This makes selling at a car auction a great way to get rid of complicated units.

Members do not need business licenses to bid on a No License Required vehicle. Public buyers can bid on these vehicles without restriction. Certain states require business licenses to purchase vehicles depending on the title type. This varies on a state-by-state basis.

You can drive a car directly off the lot if you have insurance on it and have access to dealer tags. Otherwise, we recommend you either have Copart ship it to your business address or hire a third-party transporter to bring it to you.
