Destiny 2: How to Get Gyrfalcon's Hauberk (2024)

Each season, Bungie introduces new exotic items into Destiny 2 for players to chance. While players typically get 1 exotic weapon inside the season pass such as the Manticore SMG in Season 19, others can be added through exotic quests, rewards for beating challenging content, while some are entered into the game's loot pool instead. With so many being added every few months, not every one is a big hit with fans.

However, Hunters have seemingly struck gold with Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk, an exotic chest piece that was originally introduced inside of the pirate themed Season of Plunder. The chest armor also joined the likes of the Fallen Sunstar for Warlocks, Point-Contact Cannon Brace for Titans, and a selection of exotic weapons including the returning Touch of Malice scout rifle and controversial Quicksilver Storm Auto Rifle.

However, from these exotics, Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk seems to stand above the others, typically referenced by players for how powerful it can be and how especially helpful it is when dealing with difficult content inside of Destiny 2. However, as valuable as this exotic is, there are only a couple of ways to acquire it.

How to Acquire Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk

Following a similar path that most newly added exotic armor pieces have gone on during the fourth year of the game (post-Beyond Light), Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk can only be earned through finishing Legendary and Master Lost Sectors instead of simply being a random drop from activities or enemies.

The Lost Sector rotation changes daily at Destiny 2's reset time, so players will not only have to find which ones are active, but verify that the armor type is available to earn. In terms of Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk, players will need to wait until the exotic reward is for chest armor. The other element to this is that the Lost Sectors need to be finished as a solo player for a rare chance at earning an exotic. Master versions of lost sectors technically have a slightly higher drop rate, but it's worth noting that the content is more challenging and will likely take longer to complete, so in terms of quick farming, Legendary versions may be the better play.

It's also worth noting that finishing a Legendary/Master Lost Sector does not guarantee an exotic item as the loot pool includes resources like Enhancement Cores, weapons, and other Destiny 2 items. What's worse is that when a new exotic is awarded, there's no guarantee that it'll be Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk, as the game can reward other exotic armors that players don't have yet as well. As such, the best thing to do is to continue grinding through these activities and eventually, it'll drop.

What does Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk Do?

Now that players know how to get Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk, here's what it does. The exotic chest armor features the intrinsic perk called See Me, Feel Me. Essentially, this is armor that should be used with the Nightstalker Void subclass as well as void weapons, which gain volatile rounds after players emerge from being invisible. However, when the player is invisible and uses a finisher to defeat an enemy, all of their weapons gain bonus energy and any nearby allies gain a reserve overshield and improved class ability regeneration.

As it stands during Season of the Seraph, Nightstalker Hunters continue to be a strong pick, with most non-Hunter players being annoyed by how tricky they can be to pin down in competitive modes in the Crucible. While the overshield with Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk is a nice bonus to have, the piece that makes this exotic so dangerous is the damage boost simply for coming out of invisibility, especially when playing PvE activities. When paired with strong Void weapons such as Collective Obligation or Taipan-4FR, Nightstalker Hunters can really output some serious damage.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
