The Final Shape

Welcome to the Gyrfalcon's Void Hunter Build Guide. You see, Void Hunters love making things Volatile - it’s what we are best at. With this exotic chest piece, you get Volatile on your Void weapons by emerging from Invisibility. All you have to do is make one orb of power and collect it to proc Devour; you can keep this going by killing combatants. Gyrfalcon's truly makes this simple Void Hunter build a dangerous one to any who would challenge them.

This build assumes you have bought all necessary fragments and aspects from Ikora Rey in the Tower, as well as have the exotic chest armor, Gyrfalcon's Hauberk.

Pros

  • High ability uptime.
  • Good crowd control.
  • Easy-to-proc invisibility.
  • Tether weakens and suppresses enemies.

Cons

  • Not a strong damage Super.
  • Must use void weapons.

Gameplay Loop

To start with, go Invisible by doing one of the following: collect an orb of power, execute a Finisher, get a grenade final blow, or simply dodge. When you emerge from being invisible, you gain Volatile rounds to your Void weapons. As you begin cutting down your enemies, pick up an orb to proc Devour. Continue to kill combatants to restore your health, grant grenade energy, and extend the duration of Devour. Kills proc Invisibility and thus infinitely extend Volatile rounds for your Void weapons. Enjoy the full Gyrfalcon's Void Hunter Build gameplay loop of Volatile, Devour, and Invisibility!

Ability Breakdown

Super

  • Shadowshot: Deadfall
    • This Super tethers all enemies within 12.5 meters. While tethered, enemies are Weakened, Suppressed, receive 30% more damage from all sources, AND share 50% of damage taken from other enemies in the tether. The tether itself lasts 12 seconds, but you can increase its longevity by killing enemies in the tether (0.5 seconds per enemy up to a max of 25 seconds).

Abilities

  • Gambler's Dodge - this dodge immediately refunds your Snare Bomb.
  • Triple Jump - Triple jump is nice, but use whichever jump feels best to you.
  • Snare Bomb - Can attach to surfaces and ping the enemy's radar. Weakens enemies when it detonates. Duration is 5 seconds. Also applies damage over time that increases in strength the longer combatants remain in the smoke.
  • Vortex Grenade - This grenade pulls targets inward and continually damages enemies trapped within the vortex.

Casting an ability or shooting a weapon removes your invisibility before the timer is up!

Aspects

  • Stylish Executioner - defeating a Weakened, Suppressed, or Volatile target gives you Invisibility and Truesight.
  • Vanishing Step - dodge to go Invisible.

Fragments

  • Echo of Obscurity - Finisher final blows grant Invisibility.
  • Echo of Undermining - your Void grenade Weakens targets.
  • Echo of Starvation - picking up an orb of power or a Void Breach grants you Devour. With Devour, final blows restore health, grant grenade energy, and extend the duration of Devour.
  • Echo of Persistence - any Void buffs applied to you have an extended duration. This extends the duration of Devour and Void overshields by 50% and the duration of Invisibility by 40%.

Artifact Mods

This build does not require any artifact mods from Episode 1. IF you would like to add mods, these would pair well with this build:

  • Any Champion mods from Column 1.
  • Authorized Mod: Elemental Charge - Energy cost of Elemental Mods is decreased significantly.
  • Elemental Siphon - Rapid final blows with a kinetic weapon or a weapon matching your Super will create an elemental pickup that also matches your Super.
  • Counter Energy - When a member of your fireteam stuns a Champion, you gain energy for your least charged ability.
  • Void Hegemony - While you have a Void or Prismatic subclass equipped, defeated weakened targets provides a small void overshield.
  • Expanding Abyss - Void sources deal increased damage to weakened targets.

Recommended Weapons

  • Kinetic Slot: Scatter Signal - strong special weapon for the kinetic slot, with big damage numbers.
  • Energy Slot: Le Monarque - exotic bow; arrows become poison arrows if shot quickly, and precision hits stun combatants and spreads the poison to nearby enemies. This bow is used because it is a Void weapon that that can kill combatants quickly.
    • How to acquire:
      • Buy from the Monument to the Lost Lights in the Tower.
  • Power Slot: Edge Transit or Commemoration- the grenade launcher is perfect for killing grouped up enemies or doing DPS, and the LMG is great for ammo economy.

Variants

  • Swap Special Finisher and Powerful Attraction cloak mods for Empowered Finish and Font of Restoration.
    • If you find that creating orbs of power is not an issue, but survivability is, combine these mods to gain a Void overshield and an armor charge from performing a Finisher.
  • Swap Power Preservation for Void Siphon on the helmet.
    • This provides you an easier way to proc creating orbs of power for your fireteam if you are not getting final blows on combatants.
  • Feel free to utilize other weapons, as they do not make or break this build. Use what works for you!

Summary

The Gyrfalcon's Void Hunter Build is easy to use, making it a great choice for beginners OR seasoned Guardians. The constant uptick of Volatile rounds makes defeating combatants quick and easy. Being Invisible is handy for clutching a revive or hiding while you regain health. This build works great for fireteam activities, and shines in solo content!
